We are seeking a highly skilled Extreme Networks Engineer with expertise in Shortest Path Bridging to join our dynamic team on a full-time, 30-week remote contract.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing network solutions using Extreme Networks equipment with a focus on Shortest Path Bridging (SPB). This role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, hands-on experience with Extreme Networks products, and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Implementation
- Design and deploy network architectures using Extreme Networks equipment.
- Implement Shortest Path Bridging (IEEE 802.1aq) to enhance network efficiency and scalability.
- Configure and optimize network hardware and software components.
Network Maintenance & Optimization
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation.
- Perform regular network assessments and implement improvements.
- Update network configurations in response to changing requirements.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide expert-level support for network-related issues.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients to resolve technical challenges.
- Develop and maintain network documentation and standard operating procedures.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate network solutions.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide training and knowledge transfer to team members as needed.
Continuous Learning & Development
- Stay updated on the latest developments in Extreme Networks technologies and SPB.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Extreme Networks equipment.
- Proven expertise in implementing and managing Shortest Path Bridging (SPB).
Certifications
- Extreme Networks certifications such as Extreme Certified Specialist (ECS) or Extreme Certified Professional (ECP) are highly desirable.

Technical Proficiency
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols and standards (TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLANs, STP/RSTP/MSTP).
- Proficient in configuring Extreme Networks switches, routers, and related hardware.
- Experience with network security practices and tools.
