Technical Skills:  Active Directory, Windows workstation support, Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Intune, Teams, OneDrive)

Location:  Onsite at locations in Chesapeake, Virginia. Airfare and hotels are pre-paid. Meals and rental cars are reimbursed per project policy.

Engagement Overview

We are seeking Onsite Migration Engineers to provide onsite execution and user support during a multi-site user and device migration at locations in Chesapeake, Virginia. Each engagement is one (1) week onsite per site.

Selected engineers will be onboarded and brought up to speed by the engineers managing the broader project, ensuring consistency in tooling, process, and escalation paths. You will be a trusted face of the engagement onsite, ensuring devices are moving through the migration process, supporting users as they come online in the target environment, and serving as the primary point of contact between the client site and the remote project team.

Key Responsibilities

Onsite Presence and Client Engagement

  • Serve as the primary client-facing point of contact during migration activities, representing the project team professionally throughout each engagement.
  • Work systematically through designated areas as users come online in the target environment, ensuring users feel informed and supported.
  • Coordinate onsite timing and sequencing with the remote migration architect executing centralized cutover tasks.

Device and Agent Management

  • Confirm that the Quest Desktop Update Agent (DUA) is installed, connected, and progressing on each in-scope workstation.
  • Identify and escalate stalled or failed agents to the remote migration architect for resolution.
  • Validate that workstations are successfully joined to the target Active Directory and Microsoft 365 tenant following migration.

End-User Support

  • Assist users experiencing login issues or access problems following migration to the new tenant.
  • Confirm basic post-migration functionality: sign-in, mail flow, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint access.
  • Provide a calm, reassuring presence during cutover events to minimize user anxiety and downtime.

Communication and Reporting

  • Identify, document, and escalate issues promptly to the remote migration architect.
  • Coordinate with local site contacts to ensure smooth floor logistics and access.
  • Report daily progress, issues, and resolutions to the migration lead.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in an Active Directory and Windows workstation environment.
  • Comfort navigating Microsoft 365 services at a user support level – Outlook, OneDrive, Teams, SharePoint, and Intune-managed devices.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting user login, profile, and access issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills — this role requires daily interaction with end users and client site contacts.
  • Ability to stay calm and professional in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
  • Ability to work independently onsite with guidance provided remotely.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Quest On Demand Migration (ODM) and the Desktop Update Agent (DUA), or comparable migration tooling.
  • Prior experience in a client-facing field services or onsite deployment role.
  • Experience working across varied site environments including warehouse, distribution center, or office settings.
  • Exposure to Okta, hybrid Exchange, PKI, or domain rewrite scenarios.

Work Environment

  • Onsite at client locations during active migration periods; this role is not remote.
  • Client-facing engagement requiring professionalism and composure throughout — you are the face of the project team on the ground.
  • Close collaboration with the engineers leading the broader migration project (who will provide onboarding and ongoing guidance) and a remote migration architect.
  • Standard hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, Monday through Friday, with flexibility around scheduled cutover windows.
